Overall good, with rubbing and wear to exterior. Some losses to corners. Antique restoration attempts to spine and corners. Some cracking to hinges at front and rear. Instances of staining along edges of some pages. Light markings and inscriptions. Illustrated frontispiece portrait adjacent to title page. An extremely scarce piece on the sermons of Louis Bourdaloue (1632-1704). A French Jesuit preacher, he was a popular fixture to the French nobility, and was called to preach at the Court of Versailles at least nine times, which broke traditional customs of not calling for the same preacher more than three times. A great reference and reading copy printed in German.
