The Bahamas half dollar is part of the family of notes issued by the Central Bank of the Bahamas in 2001. Banknotes from this series come with added security features and colors as well as new portraits and new background patterns. This particular banknote is in uncirculated condition. The obverse side features Queen Elizabeth II wearing a tiara and the royal family order of King George VI. It also depicts straw baskets and a map. The banknotes reverse side displays bananas, the Coat of Arms of the Bahamas, and artisan weaver Sister Sarah Johnson in the Nassau market with fish and fruit. Security features of This 156 x 67 mm paper bill include a sand dollar as its registration device, a windowed security thread with a demetallized BAHAMAS, and a watermark consisting of an image of a Spanish galleon.
