As the title implies, the author is writing here not for those who wish to treat working with horses simply as an enjoyable hobby, but for horse lovers looking for a serious profession.  She provides a mass of information that will enable aspiring vets, or instructors, to make a qualified choice of careeer.  Her advice and guidance is both competent and sympathetic, offering an accurate introduction to all aspects of horsemanship and, as a survey of the whole field, it makes an absorbing read in its own right.
