Publisher’s color pictorial boards, full color endpapers. All 48 pages intact, including four beautiful scenic rich full-color pop-up plates and numerous tinted illustrations throughout the book, as itemized on the “Illustrations” index page. The book comes covered in a plastic slip-cover and in its original illustrated box. The book contains a reworking of the British folk tale “Babes in the Woods” from the original 1932, Silly Symphonies animated film, with some additional material incorporated from Hansel and Gretel by Brothers Grimm and the addition of a village of friendly elves (a feature not traditionally present in either tale). In breaking with the Brothers’ usual story endings, Disney’s ending is sets the pace for these stories to maintain the much happier tone of the “Silly Symphonies” theme. While other cartoons of the day were produced in black and white, “King Neptune” (a 1932 cartoon by Walt Disney), the second story in the Silly Symphonies series, was produced in Technicolor as was the original plan.
Original front and back covers intact. Binding is worn on creases, one page shows evidence of adherence, some repair residue, possibly slight water damage and edges of other pages have slight dings. Small piece of bottom binding missing (1” x 1”).

This antique first edition Disney pop-up double story book is a wonderful addition to any Disney or vintage book collector, and makes a wonderful gift for the next generation of collectors.
