OCTOBER
by Aegidius SADELER II, after Peeter STEVENS (1567-1624).

Printed on laid paper backed with a second sheet of laid paper.

Good impression of the second state, with the attribution to Marcus Sadeler as printer. Trimmed to plate. Remnants of vertical folds (backing sheet has flattened this out) and faint spots throughout.

The set Menses XII anni solaris is dated 1607. Each of the twelve plates illustrates one month, depicting the occupations for this month and showing the corresponding sign of the Zodiac in the sky. The name of the month is inscribed bottom center in a text box. Six lines of verse in Latin in the lower margin give a comment on each plate.

Sheet: 8 1/2 x 10 1/2 inches
