Rare unfinished Nantucket Lightship Basket, last quarter 19th Century. Open round cane  woven basket with rattan staves, unfinished high rectangular wooden ears extending down as staves, unwrapped rim, maple bottom in dark stain with multiple concentric scribed circles, unsigned. Measures 3" high by 6-½" diameter.

Provenance: This basket was loaned to the Nantucket Historical Association The Lightship Baskets of Nantucket: A Continuing Craft in 1994.
