Sterling Silver Dragon Peppers - Antique Victorian

An exceptional, fine and impressive, unusual and rare pair of antique Victorian English sterling silver dragon peppers; an addition to our 19th century silver cruets/condiments collection

Description

These exceptional and unusual antique Victorian English sterling silver peppers have been modelled in the form of dragon's heads.

The surface of each piece is embellished with embossed decoration, replicating the ribbed texture of the neck and anatomical features.

The posterior surface of each pepper incorporates scales and a protruding spine.

The head of each silver dragon is embellished with pierced 'pepper' holes.

Both the pepper cellars are fitted with screw fit stoppers to the underside of the base.

These rare peppers were crafted by the Sheffield silversmiths James Dixon & Son bear hallmarks pertaining to 1848 and 1855.

These exceptional and unusual Victorian silver cruets are the finest of their type you could hope to acquire.

Condition

These antique 19th century silver peppers are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.

The embossed decoration is all very sharp.

Full hallmarks to the surface of each base are very clear.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these rare silver dragon peppers.
