This is a 1959-60 Topps hockey card of the Detroit Red Wing Hall of Famer, Gordie Howe, #63 in the set of 66 cards.

This was Topps' fourth set of hockey cards. As with the previous year's set, only players on American teams are represented, so the only teams in the set are the Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers.

The text on the reverse of the card is both in English and French.

The card was sent to PSA for authentication and encapsulation/grading. It was authenticated and its grade is VG 3 (Very Good 3), and the Authentication number is 73274070. PSA has graded only 256 of these cards.

There are two flaws to be aware of; the first is not obvious. On the obverse of the card, there is an impression in the right-hand blue border that is shaped like an indentation of small fingernail. There is a stain on the reverse that starts at the word, "Floral", and extends downward through the French text into the red border to the bottom.

The American Card Catalog designation for this set is V310-3.

Gordon "Gordie" Howe, 1928-2016, was "Mr. Hockey", "Number 9", a Canadian hockey player who was beloved in Detroit and throughout the hockey world. From 1946 to 1980, he played for twenty-six seasons in the National Hockey League and then six seasons in the World Hockey Association. His first twenty-five seasons were with the Detroit Red Wings, he was a twenty-three time All Star, he won the Stanley Cup four times with the Red Wings and was a six-time winner of the Hart Trophy as the NHL's most valuable player. He was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1972.
