This
is a lovely antique red alphabet cross stitch sampler, showing letters, numbers and borders stitched with bright red cotton thread on stiff cloth.
The
sampler is French and dates from circa 1890. It is signed 'Germaine Payen, Institution de mes dames Leteller, Nogent sur Marn'.
It measures approximately 11 x 9 3/4 inches or 28 x 24.5 cm.
The sampler is in good condition, considering its age. The cloth has some spots on it.
