The sixth complete set is being re-released for the first time in about 10 years!

We are reissuing the sixth complete Beethoven cycle with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra, which Takashi Asahina completed between 1996 and 1997 before he turned 90, with the latest mastering (the fifth complete Beethoven cycle was released on April 25, 2020 as the first release in this project [OVEP00007]).

When the fifth set was completed, the maestro said, “This is the last of the complete works” (from an interview), but four years later he had another opportunity to perform a live concert that was the result of his renewed inner passion.

The heroic music of Beethoven, with its majestic scale in “Eroica”, its deep and savory flavor in “Pastoral”, and the stirring of the great trees in “No. 7”, is all wrapped up in a dignified appearance.

The CD is packed with selling points, including a full commentary on the performance by Isao Uno, new mastering by Tomoyoshi Ezaki in 2020, a new manuscript written by Hideki Nishihama (Managing Director of the Yamagata Symphony Orchestra), and SACD hybrid specifications.

The first release was on Canyon Classics, and this is the first time it has been re-released in about 10 years.

This re-release is a 6-disc set, excluding the “Best” CD, which was a bonus disc included in the first release (regular CD) and included a 1-CD set of “Asahina/Beethoven Best” supervised and selected by Isao Uno.

Also, as a SACD hybrid disc, the seven discs were sold separately by Canyon Classics in 2008 for 2,857 yen each, so this is a reissue of that release, but Mr. Ezaki was in charge of the mastering for the 2008 reissue.

This time, the same Mr. Ezaki has once again performed the latest mastering based on the previous release after a 12-year interval.
