The ISU-152 is a Soviet heavy self-propelled artillery unit (SAU) of World War II, based on the IS tank. The index 152 in its name indicates the caliber of the main armament of the vehicle. The jargon name of the ISU-152 is "Zveroboy", in the Wehrmacht it was called "Dosenöffner" (German for "can opener").

The ISU-152 was developed in June - October 1943 by the design bureau of Experimental Plant No. 100, and adopted by the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army (Red Army) on November 6 of the same year. 

The ISU-152s were widely used by the Soviet Army in the final stage of the Great Patriotic War as self-propelled artillery, and successfully proved themselves in the role of tank fighters. In addition to the RKKA, the IMS-152s were in service with the armies of Poland and Czechoslovakia, and single trophy vehicles were used by the Wehrmacht and the Finnish Army. 

In the postwar period, the IMS-152s were modernized and were in service with the Soviet Army for a long time. They were also supplied to equip the Egyptian armed forces. 

Starting in the mid-1970s, the IMS-152s were withdrawn from the Soviet army and replaced by more modern SAU. Some number of survivors of the cut to metal machines now serve as monuments and exhibits in museums around the world.
