Replacement 12v. starter for all Hercules IX-series equipped machines:
Cletrac HG, Oliver-Cletrac HG, Oliver HG, Oliver OC-3, 4 cylinder Oliver OC-4 and OC-46.

Also: Cletrac General GG, Avery A, Wards Twin Row, Minneapolis Moline Model BF, Silver King
or indeed any machine with a Hercules, IXA-3, IXK-3 or IXB-3 engine - combines, generators, forklifts etc.

This is a modern 12v. gear reduction starter modified to fit these engines.
The 'gear reduction' means it spins at the same speed as the original 6v. starter for the most effective start.
If you use an original 6v. starter with a 12v. battery it turns the starter twice as fast which can cause the starter to fail and
will sometimes spin the magneto too fast to initiate an impulse.
Hundreds sold and no complaints.

Generally though, to use a 12v. battery, you'd keep the original generator in position for the fan pulley
but disconnect the 6v. wiring to the regulator. Then, just put the 12v. battery on a trickle-charge once in a while.
There's only an electrical draw on the battery when its used for starting, so you'll rarely need to charge the battery.

Note: if you need an original 6v. starter, I sell refurbished Autolite or Delco-Remy models for $360
but they are ALWAYS in short supply due to replacement parts being long obsolete. Let me know.
