HENRY "HENRY THE DEUCE" FORD II - TYPED LETTER SIGNED 10/01/1984 - HFSID 177358
HENRY FORD II. TLS: "Best Regards/Henry Ford II", 1p, 5¾x7¾. No place, but Detroit, Michigan, 1984 October 1. On his imprinted letterhead to Mr. Martin Kellner, President, American Society for Technion, Israel Institute of Technology, New York, New York. In full: "You and Mr. Siegel were most thoughtful to send me a copy of 'Israel High Technology' together with your very nice New Year's card. I have not as yet had a chance to read the book, but look forward to doing so soon. I appreciate your thinking of me and extend all good wishes for a very happy New Year." The American Society for Technion was responsible for the support of Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, founded in Haifa in 1924. The facility, located on Mount Carmel since 1953, is the world's leading science and technological university and a major research center. In 2004, twenty years after this letter was written, two of the Institute's scientists, Avram Hershko and Aaron Ciechanover, won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry. Israel High Technology, written by Sherman Arnold and Paul Hirshhorn, was published in 1984. The grandson and namesake of the automobile pioneer, Henry Ford II (1917-1987) revived the ailing Ford Motor Co. in the late 1940s and 1950s and served as Ford's Chief Executive Officer from 1960-1979. Ford had retired from the company on October 1, 1982. Slightly creased. Mid-horizontal fold. Fine condition.
