How to Wear Ihram
Men’s Ihram clothing is strict; however, a woman can wear regular clothing where Ihram is unavailable. It is important that any clothing worn is chosen with the intention of entering Ihram and ensures it protects the wearer’s modesty. Outside of the clothing worn, there are certain rules that must also be abided by during Hajj or Umrah, for example:
Men should refrain from cutting their nails and shaving their hair or beards.
No scent should be worn by either men or women, including scented soaps, deodorant, perfumes, or aftershaves. Unscented soaps are provided for pilgrims to use during their Hajj journey.
Women wearing Ihram clothing, or their own dress, should be modest and avoid exposing any part of their body but their face and hands.
Women are not permitted to wear any cosmetics or make-up.
