Rare 1820's Antique Clews Warranted Staffordshire Dark Blue plate the " Landing of Gen Lafayette at Castle Garden, NY 1824 ". Lafayette's much-celebrated return to America in 1824 was an enormously popular subject for Staffordshire pottery. New York's finest steamboats, the "Chancellor Livingston" and the "Robert Fulton," can be seen, hundreds of people on the building's roof and in boats in the water to enjoy a cannon and artillery salute.
CONDITION: Two chips on top edges- one has been darkened by a previous owner. Overall good age appropriate condition.
