Up for grabs is the 53rd issue of GameFan. Volume 5, Issue 5. It arrived in May of 1997. This is the "Duke Nukem 3D & Quake" issue. Originally called Die Hard GameFan, the magazine is simply known as "GameFan" nowadays. It's widely considered one of the all-time best, USA based video game magazines. There's also a lot of controversy throughout the history of GameFan. It truly was a magical time in the golden era of video games.
Games Reviewed in this issue include: War Gods and Doraemon (import) both for Nintendo 64. Brahma Force, Thunder Truck Rally, Overblood, Need for Speed 2, Macross VFX (import) and Wild Arms, all for PlayStation. Leynos 2 (import) and Manx TT Super Bike, both for the Sega Saturn. Real Bout for the Neo-Geo was also reviewed.
Previewed Games in this issue include: Fighting Force, Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee, Excaliber 2555AD, Broken Helix, Xevius 3D, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, Clayfighter Extreme, Norse by Norsewest, Wing Commander: The Price of Freedom, Droid Hunter, Bushido Blade, Choro Q2 (import), Kowloons Gate, Namco Museum 5, Welcome House 2 (import) and Mega Man X4, all for PlayStation. Quake, Duke Nukem 3D, Fighting Force and Cyberbots, all for Sega Saturn. ClayFighter 63 1/3rd was previewed for Nintendo 64.
