The commemorative coin of the National Bank of Ukraine "ZOLOCHIVSKYI ZAMOK" with a face value of 5 hryvnias (in souvenir packaging),

is a part of the series "Architectural Monuments of Ukraine" and is dedicated to the bastion castle-fortress in Galicia, built in the first half of the XVII century - Zolochiv Castle, which represents a neo-Dutch type of defense structures. Located on a low hill, the castle once served both as a defense and a dwelling, i.e. it belongs to the "palazzo in fortezzo" type of monuments. 

The defensive structures of Zolochiv Castle include ramparts, bastions, a gate tower, a bridge, and a raveline. The Renaissance ensemble is created by the entrance tower, the Great Residential and Chinese palaces, which are one of the few examples of oriental architecture on the Ukrainian lands. Zolochiv Castle is a museum-reserve of the Borys Voznytskyi Lviv National Gallery of Art and is part of the Golden Horseshoe of Lviv Region tourist route.

Description of the coin:

The obverse of the coin features: above is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, below which is the inscription "UKRAINE"; above the emblem is the year of minting "2020"; to the right and left of the coin are towers with a stylized panorama of the castle; below is the denomination - "5 Hryvnia"; below to the right is the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

The reverse of the coin depicts the courtyard of the castle with a fountain and a sculptural composition of three cupids in the foreground, the Chinese Palace in the background, a statue of Neptune to the left and a statue of Aphrodite to the right; the inscriptions read: "ZOLochiv Castle" (below in a semicircle), "XVII century" (right).
