An exceptional, fine and impressive antique George V English sterling silver double hip flask in the form of a car radiator; an addition to our wine and drinks related silverware collection
Description
This exceptional antique George V sterling silver hip flask has been modelled in the form of a 1920's Rolls Royce radiator grill.
This impressive 1920s flask is embellished with panels of ribbed decoration.
Either end of the antique silver double flask is plain and unembellished.
This plain sterling silver hip flask is fitted with two screw fit covers encircled with a band of applied ribbed decoration.
This silver radiator flask has been tested for watertightness and is ready for use.
To ensure the flask remains water tight, the cork should be moist and therefore fully expanded to provide an effective seal.
There are two recommended methods to ensure the cork does not dry out and shrink:
Method One: Keep fluid in the flask at all times, and keep the flask on its side to ensure the cork remains wet.
Method Two: Fill the flask to the brim with fluid and close. Leave it like this overnight, or 24 hours if possible, before use.
Such flasks with a double-sided design are becoming increasingly difficult to locate.
ConditionThis antique 1920s radiator flask is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
Full hallmarks struck to the side of the body, in addition to part hallmarks to the underside and hinges are all clear.
Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of these exceptional silver flasks.
