DescriptionThis exceptional antique Dutch silver tray has a plain oval form.
The surface of this antique tray is plain and unembellished.
The galleried border of this silver tray is embellished with pierced and engraved scrolling leaf decoration incorporating two shaped oval inset handles, accented with curvilinear pales to the lower portion.
The upper rim of this antique silver tray is encompassed with an applied bead decorated border.
The underside of the tray bears hallmarks incluidng:
Maker's mark: Untraced
City mark: Rotterdam
Silver quality/purity mark: Lion passant mark, 2 (2nd standard purity, .833 minimum)
Export mark: Key mark intruding lion passant

ConditionThis antique Dutch silver gallery tray is an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The pierced decoration is very sharp and the engraved ornamentation is very crisp.
The tray bears some surface blemishes, as to be expected in keeping with age, and is in presentation condition.
The hallmarks struck to the underside of the tray are very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver.
