Raven Nixon moves to Baltimore to study there. A trip to another city is a chance for the girl to escape from her toxic ex-boyfriend, strict parents and her glorified brother. 

There, she meets Matt Sutton, who introduces her to a pack of his friends. Among them is the perpetually grumpy Wallace Clayton. Although the boy treats Raven with indifference, what he really wants is to have her in sight. The girl reminds him of someone whose death he has blamed for years. 

When Chase Walker, Raven's ex-boyfriend, shows up at one of the parties, her new, safe life ends abruptly. Wallace comes to her aid, proposing that she stay close to his side. When that works out, Wallace offers the girl a deal: they'll pretend they're together.
