Dana Inc. is the manufacturer of the original Jeep axles. There have been a few different axles used in Wranglers over the years with the Dana 44 being the most popular. The Original Dana 44: This axle was used both front and rear on all Rubicon model TJs (03-06), and was also used as an optional rear axle for 97-06 non-Rubicon model TJs. Finding a non-Rubicon model TJ with a Dana 44 rear axle is not very common, and certainly commands a higher resale value. All Rubicon Dana 44s had 4.10 gears, while non-Rubicon model Dana 44 rear axles had 3.55 (97 only) and 3.73 gears. This cover has a 5 x 4.5 bolt pattern. Ring gear bolts = (10) approx. 5/16 x 18, length and diameter may vary. 10 bolt holes, cover size is 10-3/8” wide, Original TAG INCLUDED. This is a take off from a Jeep, the box and instructions is from the replacement cover. You are buying the original cover in the replacement box with the replacement instructions. For some unknown reason, a new gasket was adhered to the interior contact surface of the differential cover, consequently the cover is ready to be installed onto the differential.
