WOOD CHIP LOADER - KIT
in N SCALE 1/160

REALISTIC IRON DETAIL, BONNET, FEEDER SUPPORTS, RESIN COMPONENTS

I have been working on this KIT for a realistic Wood Chip Loader to go with my mill scene!  This is no ordinary kit, mind you. The parts are printed from PLA, polylactic acid, 3-D printer filament material.  These are 3-D printed, using a material called PLA or Polylactic Acid.  This amazing material, derived from corn, can be glued with CA, canopy glue, or even "welded" with a Variable Temperature Soldering Iron.  "WELD??" You say? YES! Set your variable-temp soldering iron to 220C and PLA, with it's comparatively low melting point, lends itself well to spot- and bead-welding, even in N scale if you will! If you try this kit,you may in fact acquire a valuable new skill (if you can even call it a skill, it is so easy to do), that you can use and will want to use for making so many other model structures on your layout.  You will say to yourself, "The sky is the limit now".

Enough of this blabber! You've seen the photos, but how difficult is it to make? Construction is relatively straightforward on this model. I have included detailed written instructions as well as a page of illustrations that depict how it is to be assembled.  You will supply a short piece of 1/16" tubing and you'll need to scratchbuild a covering for the electrical panel (see photos) to your liking.

The matter of positioning the bonnet I did not take lightly. One might say I "invented" a way to do this that I believe will cut frustration by at least 50%. Each kit comes with a special "tool" that you clip onto the framework. This suspends the bonnet at the level you choose while you place the "infinitely thin" hangar cables. This could have been done with wire, but I feel the PLA is quite strong in this regard and they come perfectly sized and rectangular. This results in a balanced, level hanging on the first go.  There's several extra sets just in case you want to make a change down the road.

Be wary of low production rates on your pike. These fine belts will greatly speed things up, alleviating undue stress on your crew.

Don't forget! A Conveyor Belt goes great with the Woodchip Loader! I have those too!

You've known me for the quality handmade trees I've made.  Now I'm stirring the pot.   :)

Cheers!
