New CD,

There has never been such an edition of Extra Ball's 'Birthday' album yet! The album was relaunched by Polskie Nagrania in an exclusive reissue of the iconic Polish Jazz series, known to fans of Polish jazz music since the 1960s. This is the first such extensive elaboration in the history of this excellent record. The album, while retaining its original cover, has been enriched with an extensive bilingual booklet with text by Michał Wilczyński. The author of the refreshed sound is an outstanding sound director - Jacek Gawłowski. The Extra Ball team is a child of Jarek Śmietana. The group's official debut took place at the Jazz nad Oder festival in 1974. In this most serious Polish jazz competition, the Extra Ball won second prize and a year later first prize. The band was warmly received by critics: "This is our only group that can stand boldly behind Zbigniew Namysłowski's band" (Jazz No. 5/1976). In 1976, the band recorded their first studio album, entitled "Birthday", which was released by Polskie Recordings in the Polish Jazz series.

The album was recorded with: Jarosław Śmietana (guitar), Władysław "Adzik" Sendecki (piano), Jan Cichy (bass guitar) and Benedykt Radecki (drums), Andrzej Olejniczak (saxophone). The album contains eight compositions co-written by Jarek Śmietana and Władysław Sendecki. The disc is also available in an analog version.
