Vintage Woodson W190-8 Amplifier Head

190 Watts - 4 Channels
Made by Kustom

According to "Strat Talk" and "Wickepedia": Some affiliated companies and trademarks were Woodson and Legend. Woodson Electronics, Inc. from Bolivar, Missouri was an independent business entity founded by Thomas Woodson in the early 1970s (around the same time when Kustom was acquired by Gretsch). The exact affiliation to Kustom Electronics is yet unknown but most likely the Kansas-based Kustom factory was the manufacturer of Woodson branded amplifiers. Legend hybrid amplifiers of Legend Musical Instruments, Inc. from Syracuse, New York were also manufactured by the Kustom factory. Reputedly these were engineered by Richard Newman (an employee of Bonne Music Shop) and a former employee of Woodson Electronics

Tested each channel and each output and everything is working on each channel, volume, bass, treble, and the main volume. I though I tested the spring reverb, but I did not pull the knob out to turn it on, I just turned the knob, so I cannot say for sure if it is working or not. According to Wickipedia, Woodson Amps were made by Kustom in their Kansas plant for Woodson in the 1970s.

This vintage amp head is 190 watts, and when hooked up to the Altec 1234 and tested with a guitar, it was very loud and clear. The pots were not scratchy and nothing has been done to the amp other than put some deoxit on 1/4 input plugs. The amp has not been used in years and the reverb may be a simple fix, but unknown at this time.

The amp is 20" wide, 8" tall, and 11" deep and weighs a little over 25 pounds on its own.

Nothing else is included, just the Woodson W190-8 Amplifier Head.

Shipping

There are no hidden charges for handling or materials. You will pay the actual shipping rate per shipper. We usually only use new materials with shipping, but will use recycled materials in some instances, e.g. when a large or odd size box is needed to pack the item and we have a good used one on hand. The price of boxes has risen dramatically in the last two years and a large odd size box can cost over $7.00 apiece. We also use new bubble wrap, packing peanuts, etc..., but we try to use recycled materials when appropriate to fill voids in the box. We do not charge for handling or materials, but that not mean we are going to ship your purchased item in substandard materials. 90% of the items we ship are in a new box and with new packing materials and all items are shipped with no hidden fees for materials or handling.

Terms of Sale: This Woodson Amp is sold as is with no guarantees or warranty of any kind. Sold as is demonstrated and described. As with any vintage electronic item something could go bad at any time which is the nature with vintage electronics, as well with any electronics, thus there in an inherent risk the buyer accepts in making a purchase and the item cannot be returned. We cannot guarantee anything other than what we know at the time of sale, mentioned in the description, and shown in the video. Nothing else is included in the sale that may appear with unit. Only the W190-8 Amplifier Head being sold with nothing else that may have been seen in the pictures or video is included. Holographic security stickers may be on the unit unless you contact me in advance. The security stickers are to show tampering with the unit, but they do not have to be used in all cases. Unfortunately a few unscrupulous people make these stickers a necessity.
