Condition Guide:

UNC - Uncirculated. New coins taken from sealed bags/rolls. These are shiny and new but may have small imperfections on close inspection.

CIRC - Circulated. Used/handled coins. These have all been checked to ensure they are still good quality.

The 2016 Rio Olympic $2 coin was made to commemorate the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams' participation in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The coins featured six different designs, five of which represented various sports, and one dedicated to the Paralympics. Woolworths and the Royal Australian Mint collaborated to create the coins, making them available nationwide during the Olympic and Paralympic games.

The five Olympic coins showcased 32 sport motifs like volleyball, judo, and running, all in the colours of the Olympic rings. The Paralympic coin depicted a wheelchair in motion, using the colours of the Australian Paralympic Team.

Distribution:

Woolworths supermarkets distributed the coins throughout Australia in the lead-up to and during the games.

Limited Edition:

The coins were a limited edition, with 12 million produced in total across the six designs.

Partnership:

The Royal Australian Mint and Woolworths collaborated to create and distribute the coins, highlighting their commitment to supporting the Australian Olympic and Paralympic teams.
