History of the Barber Quarter Dollar, the Barber Quarter Dollar is also known as the Liberty Head. It was minted from 1892 until 1915 and was designed by Charles E. Barber. The average weight of the coin is 12.5 g. and is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper. The coins were minted at the Philadelphia, New Orleans, and San Francisco mints. Starting with 1906, some dates were also minted in Denver. After 1909, coins were no longer minted in New Orleans.
