Installation Instructions :
1) Park on a flat surface
- Make sure the car is parked on a flat surface, you don't want anything to be able to slide about. Make sure all bolts have been sprayed with CRC before hand.
NOTE : Please chocks under the front wheels.
2) Find Body Mount Points
a) Find the 14 body mounts; there are 6 in rear of tub and 8 in cab ( for Double Cab ) or 8 in rear of tub and 6 in cab ( for Single Cab )
b) Lift carpet back and remove plastic caps
c) The mounts can be found under the carpet, two by the seatbelts in the middle two in the front foot well, two behind bumper bar and the other just before the rear seat.
NOTE : It is recommended to unscrew the panelling around the gear shifter ( Manual Only ) and remove the CV Cover, this will all help when lengthening the stick too. Radiator will need to be lowered so fan doesn't hit shroud ( Remove or modify section of shroud on Triton L200 ML/MN ). There is two ways of doing this, remove bottom piece of radiator shroud, or make 4 drop brackets out of 3mm plate 30mm wide 90mm long drill two holes in it 50mm apart one hole bolts to radiator other hole will line up with hole in body where radiator orginally unbolted from.
d) Air conditioner needs to be checked for wires hoses etc. for stertching.
3) Take measurements of Tub Alignment
- Before you start to unbolt you need to check alignment of cab/tub. Easiest way is put a small level or straight edge from where cab meets tub/tray and check measurements, you will need these measurements later.
4) Unbolting Body from Chassis
- Once you have found body bolts, and you're ready to go, start unbolting them, you may need someone to hold a spanner on top while you go round unscrewing the underneath sections don't remove the bolts, only nuts.
NOTE : Factory Captive Washers need to be removed and re-used with kit bolts.
5) Steering
MJ/MK :
- Do check the steering, however no reports of any modification required.
ML/MN :
- The steering column bracket will need to be modified ( undo the bolts for now, then come back and do the mod once the body lift is in. )
Where the steering shaft is attached to the bracket that attached to the chassis on the driver's side in the engine bay. You need to get a piece of flat steel and drill two holes so it can bolt onto the existing position, and then you will need two more holes 50mm higher so you can re-attach the bracket.
6) Lifting the Body
- Using a Jack start SLOWLY Jacking the body up, keeping your eyes on cables/hoses etc as you're doing this. Each vehicle is different and may have extra wires, stereo's, alarm's etc. You need to be very cautions of this.
- Only jack to the height where you can just fit a block in Slide it in, and place the correct bolt fitting through. Clete this with all body points.
- Only do one side at a time ( either the left or right - makes life easier )
- Keep the rubber parts that are there.
- When they're all in place you can start tightening them up, making sure tub is correctly aligned with cab as per previous measurements.
7) Front Bumper / Bull Bar Mounts
- If you are keeping your front bumper, you will need to make up some brackets, use some steel plate 4mm with two holes at the top which line up with your bumper bar holes and two holes 50mm lower which can be bolted back to frame.
- If you have a bull bar this will have to be modified to fit as well. Depending on type of bar, you may just be able to drill holes 50mm higher, or you may need to cut and weld the bull bar. Some bull bar manufactures also now make 2 inch brackets for body lifts.
8) The Gear Stick Modifications & Fuel Filler Hose
MJ/MK :
Gear Shifter - The main gear stick needs to be cut on the vertical part. Then a 50mm x 12mm rod inserted and welded in place, the gear lever will need to be removed from gear box and rubber boots removed. The plastic bushes which go around the bottom of shifter cannot be removed so care must be taken not to melt the bushes.
The 4x4 Lever will be shorter but will not require extending.
ML/MN :
Gear Shifter - No modification required.
MJ/MK/ML/MN :
Fuel Filler - You may need to lengthen the hose that goes from the filler cap on body to the tank. Undo the screws from around the cap and disconnect hose from tank and the cap ( two hose clamps ) replace with hose 50mm longer available from any auto spares shop or cut hose and insert a piece of stainless pipe same inner diameter as fuel hose 150mm long. Insert 50mm into each piece of pipe and hose clamp together.
9) The Finished Lift
- Go around and check all bolts are tight, ensure no lines or leads have been overstretched/pinched etc. Inspect bolts for the next few weeks.
