Lamlac is trusted by 100's of breeders across the UK, including ourselves, as a reliable go-to milk replacer for puppies. It mixes quickly, is highly digestible, and from both personal use and breeder feedback, puppies raised on Lamlac consistently gain strong, healthy weight.

It can be fed warm via bottle, syringe or sponge for newborns, and is also excellent during weaning when mixed with food or offered cooler once puppies are lapping confidently from a bowl.

Species Statement - Please Read
Lamlac is manufactured as an ewe milk replacer for lambs. It is not a canine-specific puppy formula. Many experienced dog breeders, including ourselves, use Lamlac for puppies because it mixes easily and is well tolerated. If you are unsure which formula is appropriate for your litter, or you are caring for sick, premature, or failing-to-thrive puppies, consult your vet. Always follow the mixing instructions and monitor weight daily. Not for human consumption.

Suggested Feeding Quantities (per feed - based on 15ml per 2oz body weight per day)

Puppy WeightDaily Milk RequirementFeeds per 24hrs*Amount per Feed
100g (3.5oz)~26ml12~2ml
200g (7oz)~53ml10~5ml
400g (14oz)~105ml8~13ml
600g (21oz)~158ml7~23ml
800g (28oz)~210ml6~35ml
1kg (35oz)~263ml6~44ml

*Newborn puppies require smaller, more frequent feeds. As they grow, frequency reduces while volume per feed increases.

General Quantity & Calculation (Rule of Thumb)

  • Newborn puppies need 15ml of formula per 2oz of body weight per day, divided into frequent feeds.

  • To calculate:

    • Weigh the puppy in ounces.

    • Multiply weight by 15.

    • Divide that number by the daily feedings = amount per feed.

Example:

  • A 6oz puppy needs 45ml daily (6 x 15 ÷ 2).

  • If fed 6 times per day, each feed = 7.5ml.

Feeding Frequency

  • First few days: Feed every 2 hours.

  • First week: Feed every 2-3 hours.

  • After first week: Gradually extend to 3-4 hours, then 4-6 hours as growth continues.

Key Considerations

  • Monitor weight daily - steady gain is essential.

  • Avoid overfeeding - may cause diarrhea, bloat, or vomiting.

  • Warm formula to ~38°C (100°F).

  • Stimulate toileting - use a damp cotton ball on anus/genitals after each feed to encourage urination/defecation.

  • Always use a reputable commercial puppy milk replacer.
