OK, there is quite few PDW-F355 cameras on second-hand market but this one is really stands out.Sony PDW-F355 is dual-layer capable XDCAM HD 1/2" real-CCD camcorder that, unfortunately, has been discontinued few years ago. Most of these cameras on used market show lot of use (and abuse).
One we offering for sale have interesting history. Camera was store display model and haven't been used at all. After Sony discontinued this model, camera was removed from display and placed on shelf in warehouse and forgotten for at least 5 years. Warehouse cleaning reveals new PDW-F355 sitting wrapped in plastic (original box missing, we weren't able to find it).
Camera was powered and found to be spot-on. But one interesting thing we found when checked camera Diagnostic Menu: hour meter show over 64K hours! How that possible on new camera? We contacted Sony and their tech said that it looks like glitchy EPROM that count hours meters. Unfortunately, Sony don't want to replace small EPROM , instead they willing to swap whole board they estimate at $2800. To our opinion it doesn't make sense to spend that amount of money for PMW-F355 and we decided to offer camera as-is. If hours meters are big deal for you, please look elsewhere. But if you are on market for 99.9% new camera with funny EPROM, here is your opportunity! Besides, it looks that EPROM counting cycles just fine: we load-unload disc three times and it show it right away.
