Description

Decorate your room with the Shachihoko figure!! A shachihoko is an imaginary creature with a tiger head and a carp body. It is a Japanese traditional figure which is often found at the top of Japanese castle. It is believed that it has a power of putting out the fire. Therefore, it can be used as a charm for safety or ornamental purposes.

The name of this shachihoko is “Showa”. It was named after era name in Japan. It features big and gorgeous fins.

We did 3D scanning the real shachihoko of Himeji castle in Himeji city, Hyogo. From that 3D data, this figure was completely reproduced with metal even the scratches on the tail.

For you information, Himeji castle was designated as national treasure in 1951, and it was designated as the first world heritage site in Japan in 1993. Usually, the shachihoko on the roof of the castle tower is a pair of male and female, but Himeji castle's both shachihoko are female and it is rare in Japan.
