Percival Schuttenbach, associated with The Witcher both because of the name (the character of a gnome from the saga of the witcher) and participation in the creation of music for the latest game "The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt", announces another third (nomen omen) album entitled "Lesser Evil" ".
The story of the album's creation is mysteriously intertwined with the story of Geralt of Rivia and his adventures. In 2006, the band composed and recorded a demo music illustration for Andrzej Sapkowski's short story "Lesser Evil". Many of the songs that were written at that time, which, by the way, never saw the light of day (or rather never had the opportunity to be presented to the public), were re-arranged and they are the foundation of the album. Hence the title of the album - "Lesser Zło". But that's not all. Following the blow, the band placed in the lyrics in the form of a scrolling thread references to the title lesser evil, asking questions and giving food for thought.
The subject matter of the texts, as well as the music, is based on Polish folk legends and parables so carefully recorded in the 19th century by Oskar Kolberg. Many moments of the album refer to folk songs preserved by this distinguished ethnographer and folklorist. Legends and stories come not only from the areas covered by today's borders, but also those historically connected with Poland, and currently located in Belarus and Ukraine.
"Lesser Evil" is also a combination of this folk spontaneity with the power and aggression of metal music. A perfect match of the energy of our traditional dances, inspiration also for Chopin or Bacewicz, with thrash energy and a cascade of sounds associated with metal giants such as Slayer. Percival put a lot of work and time to make the new album sound properly. Under the watchful eye of the sound engineers from Uniq Sound Studio, the gun was designed from start to finish. This, and the band's experience of working on Slavic culture, old songs, legends and traditions, have been fully used to create music that is not, after all, a carbon copy of Western culture. It is recorded with heart and dedication native music, real Polish folk - metal.
