The Strain is a 2009 vampire horror novel by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It is the first installment in The Strain Trilogy, and was followed by The Fall (2010) and The Night Eternal (2011). The Strain limited comic book series (2011-2013) written David Lapham, with artist Mike Huddleston was adapted from the novel of the same name. A television adaptation premiered on FX in 2014 and concluded in 2017. The Strain is widely acclaimed and considered Vampire Horror at its Finest!
