About the Artist
It has been ten years since the sudden passing of legendary pianist Michel Petrucciani during the night of January 5, 1999 in New York, just over a week after his 37th birthday. World-renowned for his singular style and tone, at once powerful and romantic, Michel was a remarkable man, an "exceptional musician, a free and vibrant artist, and a sensually lyrical pianist" (Pascal Anquetil). In loving memory of the " great romantic of jazz piano" (New York Times), who was once hailed " Jazz Man of the Year" (LA Times), Dreyfus Jazz will devote its releases for the first quarter of 2009 to Michel Petrucciani's life and music.
