Use for:

This is the single lead (male) pigtail harness that plugs into the starter solenoid. Long term exposure to the elements tends to cause the plastic on the original pigtail to become brittle and crack. This replacement pigtail can resolve this issue.

Typically, the replacement harness is spliced into the vehicle's existing harness by crimping it in place with a butt connector and crimping tool (not included).

Please be sure to use sufficient pressure with the crimping tool to ensure tight crimps on the ends of both wires being crimped.

To verify that the new pigtail harness has been properly attached, use a FAIR amount of force to pull on both sides of the butt connector simultaneously. (USE ABOUT THE SAME AMOUNT OF FORCE AS YOU IMPOSE WHEN TYING YOUR SHOELACES). The newly crimped ends should not give any slack at all.

If the wire(s) begin to pull out away from the butt connector, cut the butt connector off and repeat the process with a new butt connector and make sure to impose sufficient force on the new butt connector with the crimping tool.

 

Note:

※In case crimping & soldering the replacement pigtail harness is the desired method of attachment, the exposed wire side of the pigtail harness is pre-tinned with a thin film of solder to facilitate the soldering process.

※This pigtail harness can be plugged into both the solenoid style where the female plug is molded into the plastic solenoid cap and also the style where the female plug is attached to the solenoid via an extension wire

※Connector pigtails are sold with high quality terminals and seals. The wire is high quality which is made of tinned copper strands. This allows for better corrosion resistance, excellent conductivity & makes repairing/soldering much easier.
