The P7216 16-Channel Video Encoder from Axis Communications can deliver two simultaneous video streams, one in H.264 format and another in MJPEG format, at resolutions of up to D1 with 30 fps frame rates. The H.264 video compression format reduces bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising image quality, and MJPEG formatting is supported for increased flexibility. The Video Encoder simplifies migration to network video without the need of upgrading existing camera systems. It also offers advanced network capabilities with efficient video performance and maximum audio quality.
The video encoder features RS-422 and RS-485 connections for controlling analog PTZ cameras, and it supports all types of analog cameras, including PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) and PTZ domes. Configurable inputs and outputs can be connected to external relays and sensors for activating lights and locking/unlocking doors. It offers intelligent video capabilities such as video motion detection, active tampering alarm, and two-way audio with audio detection. In addition, its built-in four memory card slots provide edge storage for a convenient video management solution.
A single Ethernet port serves all 16 channels. The encoder is also equipped with an SFP slot, which enables the use of fiber optics. The SFP slot also provides the possibility for network redundancy.
The encoder is suitable for large analog video installations, especially where an IP network infrastructure is already in place. It is powered over Ethernet using the same cable that is used for data transmission, simplifying installation. The unit can be used as a standalone unit or can be mounted in a 19" rack. A power supply is also included.
