Nominated for Golden Globe, BAFTA and Academy Awards, The Town is Ben Affleck's second highly acclaimed feature film after his thrilling début Gone Baby Gone, and tells the story of bank robber Doug MacRay (Affleck).
Doug has grown up in the Charlestown neighbourhood of Boston, an area renowned for fostering the generations of armed robbers that he is a part of. After finding out that Claire (Rebecca Hall), a bank manager he held hostage in his most recent heist, is from the same neighbourhood, Doug begins to fall in love weith her.
After Claire reveals she is able to identify one of Doug's accomplices, he has to walk the ever-thinning line of hiding the truth from her whilst dodging the FBI agent Adam Frawley (played by John Hamm) who is increasingly closing in on Doug and the rest of his gang.
