The History of Boat/Coastal Squadron One

Task Force 115 was established July 30, 1965 under the command of CDR Arthur P. Ismay. Her primary task was Operation Market Time, an effort to stop the flow of enemy troops and their supplies, by sea, from North Vietnam to South Vietnam during the Vietnam War. On October 1, 1965, CDR Arthur P. Ismay commissioned Boat Squadron One (BoatRon1) at the United States Amphibious Base in Coronado, California. Boat Squadron One (later renamed to Coastal Squadron One) consisted of Patrol Craft Fast (PCF) vessels, later coined Swift Boats.

Division 11, based at An Thoi in the south, guarded the border between Cambodia and South Vietnam. At first, these patrol boats formed a barrier from the shore straight out into the ocean. They were to cut off the enemy as they tried to enter South Vietnamese waters. However, the North Vietnamese sent their supplies in large steel-hulled vessels far out to sea to beat the blockade by going around it.

The lighter case is in a used condition with some signs of wear.

As the product is an old item, there are scratches and stains from age. Please see the picture for the details or ask me before your purchase.

I can send the lighter with the original insert inside Australia but international post the original insert has to be disassembled and it sometimes is still returned as they deem it as dangerous as it has been used so

For safety reasons and shipping rules, I will ship with the oil removed and disassemble the lighter. (case, inside unit, spring and flint) It’s better anyways as it’s original.

You will need to re-assemble by yourself. It’s easy - if you’re not sure please ask me how.

Overall a very rare and collectible original Vietnam zippo with lots of historical and social significance.

If you want cheaper postage I can also do that but only for domestic - exact per weight, size, destination and approximate time allowed for delivery.
