Nice and unusual large antique copper engraved Map of Corsica (France) by HOMANN HRS. 

The map is embellished with a nice cartouche, an allegoric scene with the flag of Corsica.

In upper right side, a table detailing the number of inhabitants in the main cities and villages of the island.

Johann Baptist Homann was the most prolific map publisher of the 18th Century. He founded his company in 1702. In 1705, he became the Geograph of the Emperor Charles VI. In the same year, he was also Member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences in Berlin. After his death, the fabrics take the name of Homann Hrs.

Size with margins : 63 x 54 cm / 24,8 x 21,2 inches

Condition : very good condition, old colors, well engraved.

Edition : Augsburg, dated 1735, XVIIIe Century.
