NAIL FLOWER ART
by Pauline Owens, 1977
Unique piece of art consists of dozens of nails with painted heads hammered into a wooden plaque at various depths to produce the impression of a boquet of flowers. Created by Pauline Owens of Reading, PA. The plaque measures about 6.5 x 4.5 x 1 inches, and the nails extend to a maximum length of an additional two inches. The piece is nearly 40 years old, and the paint on the nail heads has faded and eroded a bit, which actually gives the item a very interesting industrial antique feel. The wooden plaque shows a bit of wear. Overall, a fascinating piece of high-concept art.
