First appearing in the controversial weekly British anthology comic, Action (1976) published by IPC Magazines, Hook Jaw was created by Pat Mills, Ken Armstrong, Ramon Sola as a cash-in to the world famous Jaws 1975 movie. The flagship title of the comic was originally scripted by Ken Armstrong and drawn by Ramon Sola. Hook Jaw is a Great White Shark and the hero of the series, even though he spends most of his time eating most of the human cast of characters. The name Hook Jaw comes from the gaff hook stuck in the shark's jaw after some fisherman tried to catch the creature shortly before being eaten by it. Watch Out!! … Hook Jaw eats corrupt humans, criminals, and those seeking to exploit the seas, as well as anyone else unlucky enough to get near his sharp great white teeth!!

Story (Spoilers!)

In issue #1C, Studying sharks off the coast of Somalia would seem hazardous at the best of times, but a group of marine scientists now find themselves caught in a war between desperate pirates, gung-ho Navy SEALs and Hook Jaw, legendary great white shark!

Next in issue #2C, In the troubled waters off Somalia, a rag-tag group of marine scientists studying a pack of female great white sharks find themselves caught in a conflict between desperate pirates and gung-ho Navy SEALs from the US Navy. But why is the CIA so interested in the work of the scientists? And just how will they face up to the shadowy terror of the legendary great white – Hook Jaw, and her back of angry pack!?!

Next in issue #3C, Off the coast of Somalia, the crew of scientific vessel the Sola are tracking the great white sharks known as the ‘Virgin Brides.’ However, scientist Laurie was abducted by Somalian pirates and the rest of the crew were picked up by the US military, and led by the CIA operative Dow. Dow seeks the contents of a shipping container on the seabed, but all attempts to get it back have been frustrated by the sharks. Mag was enlisted to help the CIA, while her colleague Jasper’s accidental killing of ‘Virgin Bride’ Camel has apparently scared the others away. But there is a bigger threat in the vicinity – the near – legendary Hook Jaw…

Next in issue #4C, In Somalian waters tracking a group of great white sharks, the crew of scientific vessel the Sola encountered peril. One of their number, Laurie was abducted by Solmalian pirates, while the others were taken into custody by the US military and CIA, who seek something hidden on the ocean bed. However, one of the scientists Jasper, has alerted environmental groups and the media to the situation. A plan has been formed to send Jasper, wearing a wire to deliver Laurie’s ransom, alongside his colleague Mag, and disguised Navy SEAL Clint and CIA operative Dow. But the threat of legendary great white Hook Jaw always looms under the surface…

Finally in issue #5C, Tracking a group of great white sharks off the coast of Somalia, the crew of the scientific vessel the Sola soon entered grave danger. Two of their number – Laurie and Jasper – have been killed, while scientist Mag, Navy SEAL Klay and CIA operative Dow were captured by the pirates led by Abdukadir, although Klay has escaped. The CIA seek the contents of a shipping container stolen by Abdukadir’s pirate father Ayub, but no one knows its whereabouts. The race is one to find container and its valuable contents, but any attempts to find it will involve running the gauntlet of deadly sharks, not least the legendary Hook Jaw!
