When and how are our Rosehips harvested?

August-October. Picking the rose hips begins when they are completely red before softening. The collection is done by hand or with special combs (rosehip pickers). The collected material is placed in crates and boxes with more densely nailed boards, baskets, etc., taking care not to crush and drive. The rose hips are collected without the fruit stalks. Full ripening is not expected, because during transport such fruits are easily crushed and spoiled. Frozen or previously frozen fruit are not collected because they have lost much of their vitamin C. From 2 to 2.5 kg of fresh whole rose hips, 1 kg of dry whole rose hips is obtained.

How to use/consume Rosehip Powder?

Food:
Alone or mixed with other flours. For making cakes, porridges, soups, etc.. Use as an additive in fresh juices, shakes, yogurt, muesli, dressings, smoothies and other foods.

Tea:
Rosehip tea is prepared as a decoction of 1 tbsp. rosehip powder in 250 ml of boiling water. After 1 hour it is filtered and drunk as tea.

Rosehip wine:
500 g of rosehip flour are poured with 4 liters of lukewarm, pre-boiled with 1 kg of sugar water. The vessel must be able to breathe! Keep warm for 15-20 days.

Porridge with Rose Hip Flour:
1 tbsp. flour is diluted with a glass of cold boiled water to obtain a thin slurry, and honey is added to the mixture.

  • Fluphenazine (Prolixin) interacts with ROSE HIP. Rose hip contains vitamin C. Large amounts of vitamin C might increase how quickly the body gets rid of fluphenazine (Prolixin). Taking rose hip along with fluphenazine (Prolixin) might decrease the effectiveness of fluphenazine (Prolixin).
  • Lithium interacts with ROSE HIP. Rose hip might have an effect like a water pill or "diuretic." Taking rose hip might decrease how well the body gets rid of lithium. This could increase how much lithium is in the body and result in serious side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before using this product if you are taking lithium. Your lithium dose might need to be changed.
  • Warfarin (Coumadin) interacts with ROSE HIP. Warfarin (Coumadin) is used to slow blood clotting. Rose hip contains vitamin C.
