Superb Quality Rare Collectible Vintage (1980s) Swiss “Romance” (By Reuge) Handcrafted Music Box (5”/13cm x 4”/10cm, 361g).

Absolutely superb 18 note music box. Beautifully hand painted and hand lacquered by a master craftsman of the highest order. In excellent condition as shown in 12 sets of photographs attached. Please browse all photographs attached for size, weight and condition as they are self explanatory. Has only ever been used as a cabinet display item and in “as new” condition.

The “Romance” movement was made by the esteemed Swiss company Reuge . This most respected company began production of the Romance movements during the 1980s. They were identical to their original mechanisms in every way except for the engraved name on the main spring housing and the wind-up key. Their purpose was to allow other cabinet manufacturers to use the Reuge's mechanisms in their own boxes but at the same time establish a difference. The Reuge Mechanisms would be used only to install into cabinets at the factory giving a greater importance to a “Reuge Factory Finished Product.”
