Aesthetic Laurel Cold Meat Fork Gorham Pat 1885 Sterling Silver

American sterling silver Aesthetic cold meat fork in the Laurel pattern by Gorham Silversmiths, patent 1885.

This unusual, unidentified pattern has three sprays of leaves and berries atop a shaped blank cartouche above three birds nestled in clouds above a tree growing from scroll work on the shank. Both sides of the handle are threaded and the back of the handle has foliate decorations. The bowl and tines have Aesthetic foliate and geometric engravings.

Weighing 54 grams, this most unusual serving fork is 8 1/2" long.

The soft, warm, original finish is present, with no buffing or machine polishing.

The excellent original condition and clear, crisp detail, with no monograms, removals, repairs or alterations, make this an especially attractive offering
