Powered Ethernet solutions like the Avaya P333T-PWR is an efficient and cost effective way to provide centralized, reliable in-line power over the LAN. Not only are IP telephones, such as the Avaya second generation 4600 series, powered from a centralized source, other low-powered devices like badge readers and wireless LAN access points receive the same power benefit. The P333T-PWR is an enhanced P333T switch that supplies power to the 24 10/100BASE-T ports. This technology provides power over the signal pairs, which makes it suitable for use with both Category 5 and legacy Category 3 cable plants. Both the standard AC power supply and the DC power supply for in-line power have backup capabilities. The P333T-PWR also detects signatures from the endpoints to prevent damage to network interface cards not designed for in-line power. Unlike some of our competitors' products, the Avaya P333T-PWR implements a current interpretation of the pending IEEE 802.3af powered Ethernet standard.
