This is the original (1sh) movie poster THE BIRDS, which was used to promote the film in theatres when it was released by Universal in 1963.   It is not a reprint nor a reproduction.  The movie stars Tippi Hedren, Rod Taylor, Jessica Tandy, Suzanne Pleshette, Veronica Cartwright, Ethel Griffles, and Doreen Lang.  

THE BIRDS was directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

The movie poster is Rolled, and measures 30.25" x 40".   The poster has been restored.  In addition, and thanks to an astute watcher of this listing, the 30.25" x 40" original movie poster THE BIRDS has lettering (THE BIRDS) and numbering (National Screen Service (NSS)) numbering along both the left and right borders.  The poster also comes on medium card stock, heavier than that found on One Sheets. 

This restored movie poster is graded C8.5, Very Fine to Near Mint   Original movie posters are graded, from the top down, as C10 (Mint), C9 (Near Mint), C8 (Very Fine), C7 (Very Good to Very Fine), C6 (Very Good), C5 (Good to Very Good), etc.  It is difficult to find any C10 (Mint) original movie posers pre 1985.  Prior to restoration, the poster was graded a C7 Fine/Very Fine.  Restoration corrected a tear and tape stain in the right border, creasing, pinholes in the corners with a couple in the image, and some smudging in the lower left corner.   The poster now exhibits a very clean appearance.  The minor flaws of faint smudging are not obtrusive even at a short viewing distance. 

We believe that the original movie poster THE BIRDS has excellent investment value.  At 30.25" x 40" dimensions, it is slightly larger than a One Sheet (27" x 41").  In addition, this poster has never been Folded, thus avoiding Fold lines that can sometimes distract from a poster's appearance and create wear.  And the restoration has created a beautiful and clean image of an iconic movie and an original movie poster that is immediately recognized.  And original movie posters for movies directed by Alfred Hitchcock are always in high demand.
