An autumnal 'golden' Copper Plated real ELDER ( Sambucus Nigra) leaf brooch. This lovely leaf is 6.75 cm long and 3 cm wide. It has a lovely natural striking undulating, graceful shape with good serrated definition around the edge. The plating is strong but fine revealing all the veins and nuances of the leaf inside. The leaf has been hand coloured in golds with pink tints on the edges and is lacquered to prevent tarnishing. On the reverse the pin has been soldered in place for strength and has a safety catch. As each piece of jewellery contains a real leaf, it is unique.
It was made by my parents John & Doreen Griffin who were craftsman electroplaters. It comes with a card describing the process used to create this piece, mounted on black card and the Latin name. A beautiful, everlasting gift.
