Osvaldo Salas, born on March 29, 1914 in Havana, died on May 5, 1992 in Cuba, is a Cuban press photographer. He was one of the photographers of the Cuban Revolution. He is frequently quoted among photographers who have had an important role in the media coverage of the Castro revolution, alongside Alberto Korda or his son Roberto Salas, official photographer of Fidel Castro.

In 1955, he was living in the Bronx and earns his living as a photographer. Fidel Castro, while conducting a fundraiser to support the Cuban Revolution, comes to solicit him for a series of shots to illustrate the poster campaign that is part of the process1.

In 1959, while Castro led the Cuban Revolution to an end, he called him to Cuba. Osvaldo Salas, accompanied by his son Roberto, then 18, made the trip. He became head of the photography department of the newspaper Revolución and will cover for twenty-three years the evolution of the Cuban adventure.
