This was my favorite belt in the 1970's.  If my waist were still this size I would never sell it.  It is timeless and so chic.  One loop fits into the other and there is a small nub that fits into the little hole in order to keep the belt on.  It is so easy to put on.  I think that was one of the reasons that I like it so much.  I was always in a hurry in the 70's and this belt was always there waiting for me.  It works with any outfit.  Hope you give it as much love as I did.  It is a loyal companion.
