Please note: The EPROM set offered in this listing is not compatible with the CD3000XL. It is designed exclusively for the original Akai CD3000 and CD3000i models. CD3000XL units require a different OS version—see my other listings or message me for guidance. Sampler is not included.
Why Upgrade to OS v2.0?
- OS v2.0 primarily resolves Akai's previous non-compliant SCSI protocol implementation, improving compatibility with modern SCSI devices and workflows.
- This upgrade is especially important for users who wish to use their S2000 or S3000XL with MESA II or Recycle 2.0 for reliable sample management and workstation detection.
- In my experience, many workstation detection issues (especially with OS 1.5) were fixed after upgrading to OS 2.0.
- Further minor bugs are resolved and overall stability is greatly improved.
How to Check Your Current Version
- Power up your CD3000/CD3000i—OS version is displayed at startup. Upgrade if you see anything lower than 2.0 for maximum compatibility.

- Replace both EPROM chips in their marked main board sockets—no soldering required. Match chip labels and notches with board markings; observe anti-static precautions.
