Akai MPC 3000 Resettable SCSI Fuse Replacement Fix

  • As illustrated in the eBay auction picture above, included are a set of 3 resettable SCSI fuses to replace the dead / malfunctioning SCSI termination fuse in your MPC 3000 series sampler.
  • As pictured in the eBay listing -- Simply replace the original fuse located on the upper right hand corner of the MPC 3000 SCSI board labeled F901.

A couple of notes from funkdewbie @ eBay:

  • Unfortunately, several of us have been hit with the FF48 error code along with the message: No SCSI device was found. Make sure the SCSI device is connected, power is on and “AUTO” or the correct SCSI address is entered in the “SCSI status screen”. If you answered YES, it is very likely that the SCSI fuse on your MPC 3000’s SCSI board is popped and is dead.
  • The default fuse that Akai supplied is not resettable, so once the fuse burns out you will need to replace it to gain proper SCSI function again.
  • Why does this happen? Mainly to do improper handling of the SCSI cables – The connecting or disconnecting of the SCSI cable while the MPC 3000 is still on, a sure way to short and blow out the SCSI fuse.
  • The fuses here in this listing are resettable. So if you’re still silly enough to improperly handle your SCSI devices, and get the FF48 message, simply turn off the MPC 3000 for a moment and turn it back on to reset the SCSI fuse back to normal.
  • Still unsure? Send me a message, thanks!

This fuse is also helpful in resolving similar “SCSI NOT READY” errors with several other Akai S series samplers (But you will have to research that online yourself of course)
